Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark has said that the club would be ready for the Premier League next season.
The Magpies won the Championship title on the final day of the season though they had won promotion ahead. Clark insists that their recent relegation and subsequent promotion back into the tier 1 will ensure they are ready when the season restarts in August.
Rafa Benitez came on late last season but he has restored normalcy to the side. He is set to guide them to the new season as they return to the top flight.
Clark was part of the Aston Villa side that were confirmed relegated to the second tier after the 2015/2016 season. He says he learnt personally after moving to St James Park last summer. He sayd thee are “Exciting times ahead” as the team returns to playing against the best players in the best stadiums in the world.
“We will be ready. We will prepare well and be ready for the challenge,” he says.
He moved from his boyhood club after their relegation as he jumped ship to join Benitez. The Rep of Ireland international says he has loved his experience as the whole staff and players “worked so hard” to achieve the promotion.
A former Newcastle United star Kieron Dyer had prophesized the promotion, saying it was “the best thing” for the club. Was part of the Bobby Robson side that helped Newcastle to the Champions League. Since Benitez joined the club, there has been obvious changes and hope for the team. Dyer said it was good they got a manager like Benitez who would take care of the club and rebuild the foundations.
“They will go straight back up and probably won’t go down ever again,” he had said and it’s been true.
