Jermaine Jenas Explains the Reason for Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer Bust up

St Johnstone teammates Richard Foster and Danny Swanson were involved in an ugly bust up during the weekend.

This event sparked memories of the clash between Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer when the pair were teammates at Newcastle. This remains as one of the greatest examples of infighting within teammates. Then-Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas has opened up on the incident. He says that every Newcastle player were shocked at the incident, especially given that Dyer and Bowyer were good friends. Yet, he has once again plainly illustrated the intense stress that a player has to go through during every match.

Dyer and Bowyer were part of the team that was losing 3-0 against Aston Villa. After getting involved into a bust up, both players were sent off with a straight red card. It is an incident which has been spoken even now, despite more than a decade.

Dyer and Bowyer have since retired. The former has been unable to match his potential, as he has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career. Even though it was a heated incident, Jenas claims that the two players forgot about the issue within seconds. Recently, Kieron Dyer spoke about the Newcastle’s relegation from the top flight. He did not expect Newcastle to come back to the Premier League, although the club have made a strong presence in the Championship this season.

“It was done within seconds. We actually had a moment as soon as the game finished where we all came in to the changing room and we said ‘go on then, do what you need to do now’ in the middle of the changing room.It was a very weird situation because they were genuine friends, that’s why we were all baffled. But when the intensity of the game gets that high and you’re not playing that well, sometimes emotions overflow,” said Jenas.
