WHY BRUCE IS UNDER PRESSURE – DYER

Ex-Newcastle United player Kieron Dyer has explained why Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is under a lot of pressure amidst his inability to win a game since last month. Steve Bruce is facing the battle to keep his job as the Newcastle United manager after a run of nine games without a win in all competitions including seven winless games in the Premier League. Steve Bruce has not won a game as the Magpies boss since the 2-1 win at home to West Bromin December. The winless run of nine games include poor results against Brentford and Sheffield United.

English Championship team Brentford beat Newcastle United 1-0 at home in their Capital One Cup quarterfinal meeting to secure a place in the semis though they are no longer in the competition after fellow London team Tottenham Hotspur beat the second tier team 2-0 at home to seal a Capital One Cup final encounter with holders Manchester City in April. For Sheffield United, they had not won a league game this season before they met Newcastle United at home. In the end, the Magpies were beaten 1-0 by the Blades and they also finished the game with ten men with the dismissal of Scottish national team player Ryan Fraser.

Kieron Dyer was recently on BBC Radio 5 Live to talk about Steve Bruce and his managerial position at Newcastle United. According to Kieron Dyer, Steve Bruce is even under more pressure than it should be due to his Sunderland connections. Steve Bruce said he was a boyhood Newcastle United fan but he went on to take the Sunderland job. To this effect, the Newcastle United fans have never taken him to be one of their own since his appointment in the summer of 2019. The poor attacking output in his team has not helped his course as well.
